If this rig can be said to have an Achilles' heal it would likely be in the area of reliability.
I have several RS232 cables laying around but they are all DB9F to DB9M config.
In my experience most DB9F to DB9F are null-modem cables and I don't believe that is what is required.
I've heard it said that the Yaesu FT-897 is the Swiss Army Knife of ham radio transceivers, and that's pretty close to being the truth.
There is little in the way of transceiver functionality that has been left out of this rig.
Tomorrow I will just build my own pass through cable to see if that works. I wonder why Yaesu put a male RS232 port on the back of the FT-950 instead of a female.
